    Coverage

UN vacancies and NGO vacancies are published on separate platforms, and each side carries almost none of the other. A search on either one therefore misses roughly half of the market, and neither site indicates that the other half exists. Newcomers to the sector are the most affected, because knowing to check both is something people learn by word of mouth.

Duty Station lists both, with filters for sector, grade, contract type and closing date. Sector filtering in particular is absent from most existing listings, so a water and sanitation specialist and a logistician currently scroll the same undifferentiated list.

    Archive

Job sites remove a vacancy once it closes. As a result there is no public record of what this sector has recruited for over time, and questions such as which organisations are expanding in which countries cannot be answered from published data.

Duty Station keeps every posting it collects. After a year of collection this produces a dataset covering which organisations hired, in which countries, at what grade, and how long posts stayed open. The dataset will be published openly alongside the site.
